KING K. ROOL IS BACK!! is an illustrated piece dedicated to the triumphant return of the king of rot, King K. Rool, to the Donkey Kong franchise. After 18 years since his last appearance in Donkey Kong, and 7 years since his latest appearance in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, King K. Rool is back with a bang in Donkey Kong Bananza, using the power of the Banandium Root to take the city of New Donk by storm.

The maniacal king of rot is by far one of my favorite villains in video games. He can be just as terrifying as he can be a complete goofball, and I had wanted to capture this aspect of his character in this piece. Sure, K. Rool has taken over the entire city with an iron fist, but he’s gonna make sure to plaster his new logo and tagline on every building along with it.
