BATTLE BEFORE BEDTIME is an illustration nd my take on the story of Baby New Year and Father Time, an endless cycle and timeless strife.

Each new year, a Baby New Year is born into the world, rapidly aging, and eventually passing the torch to the next generation by years end. All the while, The Stork observes the cycle, keeping it in check and in line. The Past, The Future, and The Timeless.

That is, until one year, Father Time refuses, stopping the clocks, and ultimately halting the flow of time itself. The Baby New Year next in line is able to escape his clutches through the help of The Stork, who must guide him to taking back the mantle. Though Father Time will do whatever it takes to keep the clocks from striking midnight.

Very loosely represented as well is a clash of art styles. Father Time, representing a general anime style reminiscent of Sailor Moon or Cowboy Bebop, is meant to evoke a classic or vintage feel. In contrast, Baby New Year follows a more cartoony approach, given chibi proportions, with bright colors and simple shapes, something modern and more relatable.
